Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Accountant for a 12-month contract to join our finance team. This position is based either in our Vancouver or Montreal location, working in hybrid environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in period-end and year-end closing procedures, annual audits, financial reporting, and managing credit card processes. Additionally, this role will involve preparing GST and other regulatory filings, supporting the Corporate Controller with special projects, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Examine and analyze accounting and financial records, documents, and systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and internal controls.
  • Manage both internal and external audits, assisting in preparing detailed reports on audit outcomes and providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Provide training and development to finance and accounting staff as needed.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable and Billing functions.
  • Deliver all internal and external financial reporting requirements in a timely manner, partnering with business units to ensure accuracy in the Operating Statement and providing variance analysis and financial performance insights.
  • Prepare for internal and external audits related to financial reports and project finances, providing necessary documentation and support during audit processes.
  • Communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Identify areas for improvement in financial processes and implement best practices to streamline operations, leveraging accounting software and productivity tools for enhanced financial management.
  • Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings, staying updated on changes in financial and industry regulations to implement necessary changes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a CPA designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on financial reporting and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with internal and external audit processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders effectively.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.


Position Base Salary Range: 83,500- 102,000

The salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
