BIOVECTRA Inc. has an immediate opening for a Senior Process Engineer. This is a full-time permanent position located in Charlottetown, PEI.
The candidate will be responsible for:
• Providing technical guidance into the design, project management, commissioning and validation, and start-up of various processes and equipment.
o Typical Biotechnology and Liquids Pharmaceutical Process Equipment may include the following, amongst many others; Upstream Biotech Processes (Fermentation, Bioreactors, Centrifugation, Thawing), Downstream / Purification Biotech Processes (chromatography, TFF, DF, NF-MF), Fill & Finish equipment, Media Preparation, CIP/SIP systems, Buffer Preparation, washing equipment, autoclaves, isolators, clean utilities (PW, WFI, CS, PS).
• Providing subject matter expert guidance for aseptic and sterile process design.
• Preparing and/or reviewing process engineering drawings and calculations,
• Preparing and/or reviewing technical data sheets for various equipment, instrumentation, and systems.
• Prepare/review risk assessments and HAZOPs.
• Prepare/review automation sequences, as required for Process Automation, such as Functional Design Specifications (FDS).
• Preparing, reviewing, executing commissioning and validation protocols, as well as requirements specifications, such as User Requirements Specification (URS).
• Client-management, creating and managing the project schedule and budget.
• Provide technical process engineering guidance to junior engineers.
• Supervise contractors during critical installations of process equipment and associated utilities.
The successful candidate for this role would have a minimum of:
• Bachelor of Science in Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
• Seven years' engineering experience within a regulated pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing environment.
• Two years' experience in project management, including preparing budget, schedule, user requirement specifications (URS), request for quotes (RFQ), and hiring of consultants and contractors
• Demonstrated success in prior Biopharmaceutical projects related to design, start-up, commissioning and qualification of utility and process equipment
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and team skills.
• Excellent computer skills; significant experience with MS Project, Excel, Word, ACAD.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Work may require occasional support over shutdowns or extended hours, specifically during installation and commissioning / validation phases.
