Scientist I - Analytical Operations

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Scientist I to join our Analytical Operations team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to world-class research and manufacturing efforts, perform analytical testing on commercial batches supporting the manufacturing and/or development of innovative products. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where your contributions will have a direct impact on the success of our projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Document all experimental data in accordance with Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original and Accurate (ALCOA) guidelines.
  • Independently perform HPLC, dissolution, and physical testing analysis using established procedures.
  • Proficiency with Empower, NuGenesis, MS Word & Excel Software.
  • Troubleshoot system suitability failures and implement solutions.
  • Recognize and report unexpected or Out Of Specification (OOS) results immediately to the Supervisor and conduct laboratory investigations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards.
  • Perform alternating or rotating shift work as required.

Requirements:

  • B.Sc. in chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience with common laboratory equipment and operations.
  • Understanding of basic chemistry and chromatographic separations.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative chemical or microbiological analysis.
  • Awareness of quality and regulatory requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and logical approach to scientific problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve team performance.
  • Embrace change and proactively identify areas for improvement.
  • Consistently strive to improve skills and knowledge in the field.
