How will you make an impact:
Lead a team of millwrights to ensure maximum process & packaging equipment uptime and availability. Distribute, set up work, assist and monitor progress of the team to ensure work is completed Right First Time and On Time. Work closely with the Supervisor(s) to ensure the daily schedule is supported from a maintenance perspective.
Shift schedule: Rotating shifts - Days, Afternoons and Nights
What will you do:
Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the team, to ensure maximum process & packaging equipment uptime and availability, by:
Ensure on-time Preventive Maintenance (PM) planning and execution by the team.
Plan and process Work Orders (W/O) in a timely manner to reduce and sustain to a minimum backlog.
Ensure timely and effective trouble shooting, repairs and overhauls tasks on all equipment.
Address any exceptions (i.e. due to shift coverage/absentees, equipment malfunction and other critical issues) that may impact the business and communicates status.
Ensure the team recommends and or implements actions to prevent repeat causes of equipment downtime.
Ensure all work is planned to be completed Right First Time and On Time.
Provide guidance, training and instructions to resolve technical problems/issues Supervision of outside contractors.
Order production & packaging equipment's replacement parts.
Assist with implementation of improvement projects approved by management as well as requirements to work during maintenance shutdowns.
Responsible for maintaining adequate shop supplies.
Provide guidance, training and instructions to resolve technical problems/issues.
Liaise with production & packaging managers and lead hands to schedule equipment availability for preventative maintenance.
Respond to needs of production & packaging personnel when necessary.
Assist in deviation investigations by providing technical background.
Select, develop and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Works with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures.
Promote a safe working environment, report potential hazards and ensure all direct reports follow Environmental Health and Safety procedures.
Perform alternating or rotating shift work as well as requirement to work during maintenance shutdowns.
How will you get here:
Education:
Trade Apprenticeship - Licensed 433A Millwright.
High school diploma/General Educational Development (GED) Certificate is required.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience maintaining packaging and processing equipment in a pharmaceutical, cosmetics or food manufacturing environment.
Minimum 2 years experience in coaching, leading, and/or supervising a group or project.
Previous work experience in a controlled and regulated environment
Equivalency:
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Attention to detail and quality of work. Ability to read drawings/schematics. Basic knowledge of welding, electrical, plumbing, pipe-fitting, hydraulics, an asset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proactive and organized approach to completing tasks timely and efficiently. Sound knowledge with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Regulations. Strong judgment, decision making and trouble shooting skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to deal confidently with inside and outside clients. Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and site CMMS applications. Proficiency with the English language.

Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Patheon quality systems Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion. Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Models positive thinking and is open to change, motivating the team to adapt to shifts in priorities and new ways of working. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about manufacturing/office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of up to 40 pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity; visual acuity to operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Usually in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort from such things as dust, loud noise, bright lights, fumes or odour. Use of Personal Protective equipment is required and may include any of the following: safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, gloves, hair net, beard cover, safety apron, respirator.
