Job summary:
The Assistant, Maintenance, is a key support role responsible for assisting maintenance teams in the efficient operation and upkeep of equipment, facilities, or infrastructure. This position involves hands-on technical tasks, documentation, and collaboration with maintenance personnel to ensure the smooth functioning of equipment and facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Equipment Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of machinery, systems, or structures to identify maintenance needs and potential issues.
2. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
3. Assistance with Repairs: Assist maintenance technicians in repairing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or other technical issues.
4. Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory of maintenance supplies, spare parts, and tools.
5. Preventive Maintenance: Support the implementation of preventive maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability.
6. Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and guidelines during maintenance activities.
7. Collaboration: Collaborate with maintenance teams and other departments to address technical issues and improve equipment efficiency.
8. Facility Support: Provide technical support for general facility maintenance, including lighting, plumbing, and basic infrastructure.
Accountabilities:
1. Equipment Efficiency: Accountable for supporting maintenance activities that contribute to the efficient operation of equipment.
2. Documentation Accuracy: Accountable for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities.
Knowledge and Skills:
1. Technical Aptitude: Basic technical knowledge and hands-on skills for assisting with equipment maintenance.
2. Documentation Skills: Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation of maintenance activities.
3. Safety Awareness: Understanding and commitment to safety protocols and guidelines.
4. Problem Solving: Basic problem-solving skills to assist in troubleshooting technical issues.
5. Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with maintenance teams and other departments.
Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or relevant coursework is a plus.
2. Previous experience in a technical support role, maintenance assistant, or related position is preferred.
3. Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or other technical systems.
4. Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and inventory management.
5. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment safely.
6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
