Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
Salary: Non-union. $71K - $95K annually: To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy.
Shifts: Monday - Friday
Status: Temporary Full-Time

Position Summary
The Clinical Research Coordinator II collaborates with Investigators, the healthcare team, trial groups, research ethics board members, and stakeholders to lead the development of research consent innovation in the PRACTICAL platform trial. PRACTICAL is a global adaptive platform trial studying interventions of acute hypoxemic respiratory failure. The Coordinator will drive consent-related projects for the platform and manage research ethics submissions for PRACTICAL-related projects. This role requires the individual to advance both existing and new consent-related initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of future trials. Highly motivated individuals seeking to develop their leadership, management, and communication skills will find this role a rewarding to develop a national and international research profile and collaborative network. Previous experience in critical care research is desirable but not essential.

Duties

  • Submit and revise local, provincial, national (CTO), and international Research Ethics Board applications;
  • Collaborate with investigators, healthcare teams, trials groups, research ethics board members, Canadian Critical Care Trials Group, and stakeholders to innovate consent methods and enhance existing processes to improve recruitment and research outcomes;
  • Recruitment of study participants by identifying, screening potential subjects; and obtaining informed consent;
  • Reviewing and assessing study-related literature
  • Leading and coordinating academic publications related to research ethics

Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and meticulous documentation practice
  • 3 to 5 years clinical and/or professional experience, and at least 3 years clinical research experience
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in phase 2 or 3 clinical trials
  • Prior experience submitting and managing applications to Research Ethics Boards
  • Prior experience working on a Research Ethics Board is ideal but not essential
  • Training in ICH/GCP guidelines an asset
  • Knowledge of IATA shipping regulations and basic laboratory procedures an asset
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently with accuracy in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office software - Word, Excel and Power Point preferred.
