Job Description

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary Range: $53,303 - $69,293 annually (To commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN compensation policy)
Shifts: Day
Status: Temporary Full-Time (to December 2026)
Closing Date: February 28, 2025

Position Summary: Several postdoctoral positions are available for synthetic organic or medicinal chemists within a small molecule therapeutics group at the Krembil Research Institute, UHN. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team tasked with translating new biological discoveries into druggable targets. The position will be focused on multi-step syntheses of novel small molecules that will be tested in various biological assays conducted within laboratories of PI's at Krembil, Princess Margaret, and UHN. The successful candidate will join a vibrant multi-disciplinary academic research group consisting of over 30 biochemists, molecular biologists, behavioural neuroscientists, computational chemists, and medicinal chemists.

  • Design and synthesize new chemical entity small molecules as putative drug platforms
  • Conduct multi-step syntheses of small molecules using state-of-the-art synthetic organic chemistry methods
  • Conduct structure- and ligand-based design and basic molecular modelling
  • Work collaboratively with expert researchers across a multitude of disease biology areas and other scientific disciplines
  • Conduct due diligence on potential therapeutic target

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, or related field
  • Expertise and experience in standard techniques of synthetic organic chemistry
  • Effective team player with strong collaborative troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams is an asset
  • Solid documentation skills and organizational ability
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Basic knowledge of key concepts in biochemistry and pharmacology an asset
