The Opportunity

This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, cardiometabolic, informatics and toxicology. The purpose of the job is to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratory by performing various testing activities to support production and non-production testing of different product types. This includes providing support for customer-related investigations, training support, equipment maintenance, data analysis, ensuring compliance with GMP and GLP requirements, monitoring laboratory supplies, and participating in projects as directed. Additionally, the role involves maintaining good order in the lab and acting as a back-up to Material Coordinators and Lead Hands. Lastly, understanding and complying with applicable EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines is also part of the job.

What You'll Do

  • Performs cartridge testing to support production and non-production testing of all product types; Coagulation, Immuno and Core products, including blood sample preparation.

  • Performs component quality control and finished goods testing of all product type.

  • Provides support for customer related investigation (PQA) and CLEW testing.

  • Provides training support as required.

  • Performs spike preparation for core, coag and Immuno product types.

  • Supports equipment maintenance; DXC, ABL Biosafety Cabinets, Tonometers, Hemochrons.

  • Reviews all outgoing test report documentations to ensure all GMP and GLP requirements have been met.

  • Monitors Laboratory supplies

  • Uses data analysis software applications to generate production test reports.

  • Ensures the lab is left in good order and appropriate status information is communicated to counterparts on other shifts.

  • Acts as back-up to Material Coordinators and Lead Hands.

  • Participates in projects as directed by Operational Supervisor or Team Leader.

  • Understands and complies with applicable EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • 4X4 AA/BB Shift Extended, rotating four days on four days off, 6:30 am to 6:30pm.

Required Qualifications

  • One to three years College Diploma in relevant field.

  • Three to six years relevant work experience.

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize own daily work to meet established schedule.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills.

  • Detail-oriented.

  • Ability to convey communications clearly, concisely, and accurately.

  • Ability to form and develop interpersonal, professional relationships; display socially and professionally appropriate behavior.

  • Ability to work independently and in groups.

  • Adheres to all safety and security policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of Quality requirements within a regulated, cGMP environment.
