Job Description

Position Summary:

Ensures routine facility services and management operations are aligned with the Facilities Manager and overall goals of the Ottawa site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and supervise project plans, schedules, teams, budgets, and expenditures.
  • Provide support and supervision to contractor partner colleagues engaged in Landscaping, Pest Control, Janitorial, Carpentry, Paint, Movers, and Mail Room operations.
  • Provide a workplace that is accommodating for colleagues and guests and promotes Thermo Fisher Scientific as an employer of choice.
  • Track and manage internal customer requests, work orders, and preventative maintenance through a work order system.
  • Ensure that all work performed under their supervision is done in a timely and efficient manner according to the applicable codes.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions (WIs), and critical metrics.
  • Assist in managing the access control system.
  • Respond to site-based emergencies including those that occur after-hours and coordinate emergency evacuations.
  • Develop building asset program to determine end of life and proactively plan for anticipated expenditures.
  • Conduct routine Gemba walks and improve processes as needed.
  • Other duties as the need arises.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Business Administration or Construction Management degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience
  • 5 years in a leadership role in a fast-paced environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Work Order Management Systems.
  • Ability to read and comprehend construction/furniture drawings/blueprints.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

  • Ability to work in a team structure and engage functional teams as needed, make decisions and solve problems.
  • Ability to coordinate, plan, organize and prioritize multiple concurrent activities, meeting timelines.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and orientation.
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office.
  • Must be knowledgeable or able to quickly learn Lenel Security System Software (S2), and Everbridge.
  • Must be available for rare on-call building emergencies 24/7/365.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to uphold integrity at all times, even in stressful situations.
