The Opportunity

This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. We're empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including Chemistry, Electrolytes, Hematology, Blood Gases, Coagulation, Endocrinology, Cardiac Markers, Neurology, and Informatics.

What You'll Do

  • In this role and as a member of the Component Engineering team, you will contribute to the team's success by ensuring supply of components to manufacturing operations. To do this, you will perform qualifications of components, perform root cause analysis on non-conforming components through the CAPA process, and work with external suppliers to ensure no interruptions in supply of components to manufacturing operations.

  • The primary focus of this position is manufacturing sustenance. Some project work however will be assigned.

  • There will be some involvement with investigations and documentation of findings and disposition decisions in the Corrective Action and Preventative Action (CAPA) system. As such, CAPA certification will be required.

  • Responsible for post repair qualification of molding steel.

  • Works with suppliers and the quality organization on accuracy of partial fair reports, and completion of post repair activities as per internal quality documents.

  • Act as event owner for non -conformance reports as part of the Corrective Action and Preventative Action quality system (CAPA).

  • Other miscellaneous duties as may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate university Degree (4-year program), or equivalent experience (Engineering, Science or Math with a specialty in Statistics or Biostatistics).
    0 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment would be considered an asset.

  • Basic Knowledge of: MS Office, SAS JMP, Minitab (or equivalent statistical software).
    Knowledge in the following areas is desirable:
    CAPA system, Product verification, Current Good Manufacturing Practice 21 CFR Part 820.
