The Opportunity

This position is in the Mississauga office in the Core Lab division. At Abbott Core Lab, we're empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Every day, more than 10 million tests are run on Abbott's diagnostics instruments, providing lab results for millions of people. The Contract Specialist is the leading expert in all areas of customer contract relations, providing support to the sales force of three divisions at Abbott Laboratories Co. (CRLB, APOC, and AMD). This exciting and fast-paced role requires an organized and detail-oriented individual who can work collaboratively to ensure all contracts are processed and obligations fulfilled.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all contract inquiries and requests with both internal and external stakeholders. Provide clear guidance and understanding on contractual obligations and pricing information.

  • Provide support for all contract management and customer proposal responsibilities, including drafting, reviewing, and tracking and compliance. Ensure all contract and pricing information are updated to Abbott's systems on a timely basis. Provide support where needed to ensure seamless and timely execution of contracts.

  • Provide support and management of RFPs in collaboration with sales leads and managers, including the organization and management of all documents, and ensuring a timely and accurate submission.

  • Provide support for contract redlining and reviews of agreements. Develop and identify strategies that address pushbacks in alignment to Abbott's processes and requirements. Ensure thorough and effective evaluation of contractual terms and conditions. Identify and assess risks associated with contract agreements and provide recommendations for risk avoidance and reduction.

  • Foster and champion, a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by seeking opportunities to enhance efficiencies and effectiveness of the Contracts and Pricing team. Lead the adoption of new tools, processes, and best practices that enable streamlining and automation of team processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Three to five years of contract management and RFP experience, preferably, within a healthcare, hospital, or laboratory diagnostics setting, analysis, and drafting of contracts, proposals, and agreements.

  • Proven track record of managing multiple contracts and RFP responses in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining a keen focus on quality, accuracy, and compliance.

  • In-depth knowledge of contract law, legal terminology, and contract negotiation principles.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop strategic solutions to potential issues/challenges.

  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple priorities and maintain thorough documentation.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex contractual terms clearly and effectively.

  • French language competency is not required but preferred.

  • Experience with government procurement and tender responses.

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applications.
