Reports to: Director, Supply Chain Management

Purpose of the role:

The Manager of Materials Management & SCM (Supply Chain Management) Systems is responsible for providing leadership aligned to corporate strategies as it relates to 1) all material distribution centres including warehouses, hubs, material planning and replenishment to Laboratory and Client Service operations and B2B partners and 2) technical and other support to ensure the efficient and optimized operation of Oracle and related systems that support the SCM teams.

The Manager will contribute to the broader LifeLabs plan through the creation, development and implementation of regional strategy aligned to corporate goals. Foster an employee engagement and continuous improvement culture to take advantage of every available opportunity to drive towards excellence, efficiency and quality within the scope of their responsibilities.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Manage and coach direct reports to ensure their performance meets present and future needs creating a robust leadership team
  • Accountable for developing and coaching future leadership team members (succession planning)
  • Provide active leadership and development to all direct and indirect reports, ensuring all individual and team accountabilities are delivered through annual performance programs and that individual performance issues are addressed
  • As a member of the National SCM Leadership team, responsible for the creation of a Materials Management strategy for all regions that is consistent with general business objectives and goals
  • Facilitate successful collaboration with SCM team leaders and the respective collective teams to meet the goals of the group
  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of Materials Management activities.
  • Recommend and deploy technologies and tools that will improve efficiencies without compromising service and quality
  • In collaboration with IT, optimize, manage and support the use of Oracle modules, and integrated software tools, that facilitate Supply Chain Management operations
  • Provide a centre of excellence and centre of knowledge for the Oracle modules and related applications to optimize performance and operations
  • Provide strong leadership to ensure Oracle quarterly updates are understood, tested and successfully implemented for all Supply Chain Management functions
  • Proactively strategize, plan and execute materials management system wide process improvements and development of KPIs
  • Manage Financials, Capitol planning by region and segment of materials management services
  • Establish budgets and manage cost effective operations that meet financial plans and support service, quality and cost KPIs. Ensure any variances are quickly addressed and corrective actions put in place
  • Build relationships and manage service levels with local/regional external clients
  • Manage regional operations in support of Service Excellence initiatives. Ensures positive working relationship with local logistics, PSC's, laboratories, physicians, healthcare facilities and other partners
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Policies, Procedures, Transportation of Dangerous Goods regulations, Ministry of Transportation regulations, safety regulations and any other that may be imposed or implemented by the business

Minimum Hiring Requirements:

  • Post-secondary and/or college/university education in operations management with progressively responsible business experience
  • 3-5 years Materials Management Leadership experience
  • Experience with ERP system admin and support requirements
  • Provincial and national travel to LifeLabs location sites is required
  • Requires full valid Driver's license
  • Operations experience required; health care sector preferred
  • Relevant experience with Oracle Fusion or equivalent systems
  • Oracle Cloud Implementation experience an asset
