Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to support/ participate in all production activities related to the manufacture and packaging of cannabis products under Good Manufacturing Practices. These activities include equipment and manufacturing room set-up, performing manufacturing steps, and cleaning equipment and production areas post manufacture as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) or Manufacturing Batch Records, as applicable.
The duties of the Production Technician may involve, but not limited to the following:
  • Maintains a safe, clean and healthy production work environment by following good-manufacturing practices (GMPs), ARA SOPs and complying with all applicable health and safety regulations.
  • Executes work as per schedule to meet production targets.
  • Cleans and maintains the production area in accordance with GMPs, ARA SOPs and other regulatory requirements, as applicable.
  • Cleans, assembles, sets up, operates and maintains production equipment in accordance with GMPs, ARA SOPs and other regulatory requirements, as applicable.
  • Ensures the production area has the required inventory for the work to be carried out.
  • Participates in new production equipment set up and qualification.
  • Follows written instructions (SOPs, batch documents, etc.) and documents results/information as per applicable requirements.
  • Makes suggestions for improvements in SOPs and Master Batch Records.
  • Demonstrates good working knowledge of cGMP principles, company's standard operating procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements.
  • Provides support for/ suggests safety improvements.
  • Transfers hazardous/non-hazardous waste materials to collection areas for disposal, recycling or re-use as applicable.
  • Reports any unexpected outcomes/issues to production management.
  • Provides occasional support to facilities and shipping/receiving related functions.
Qualifications/ Competencies:
  • Minimum college diploma in a science related field.
  • Technical aptitude and proven hands-on ability to set-up, operate and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to accurately follow and execute written instructions, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift 20-30 kg weight on a regular basis.
  • Ability to consistently follow safety instructions, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment and Respiratory Protection.
  • Previous machine operation experience within the pharmaceutical/food industry (e.g. supercritical CO2 extractor, rotary evaporators, vacuum pumps/ovens and small/large scale packaging equipment) is an asset.
  • Ability to function in a fast paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-managed team player with a positive attitude exhibiting cooperation, communication, flexibility and initiative to acquire functional skills.
  • Ability to safely handle flammable solvents and production waste.
  • Must contribute to and foster the development of a healthy and cooperative environment.
