Manitoba Harvest has and opening for a Quality Control Lab Technician to join our Quality team for 4 to 6 months. This position is based out of our Hemp Oil Canada facility located in Ste. Agathe, MB - a short 15 minute drive south of the perimeter on Highway 75.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Located in Ste Agathe, the QC Lab Technician ensures that ingredients, packaging materials, work in process, and finished products meet company, government, supplier, customer and third-party registrar requirements for quality, food safety, and sanitation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Acts and provides guidance on product sampling and sample submission requirements to Production, Quality, Product Development, Supply Chain, and third- party Co-manufacturer team members
Performs biological, chemical, physical, and organoleptic laboratory testing as per product or environmental specifications
Translates internal and external laboratory results into a central lab database
Communicates laboratory testing results to appropriate team members and creates Certificates of Analysis
Perform analytical work for Research and Development projects as requested
Maintain and organize the laboratory, laboratory inventory and supplies, lab records, and retention samples
Participates with internal inspections, internal audits, root cause analysis, documented corrective and preventative actions and risk assessments
Provides guidance to Production, Quality, Product Development, and Supply Chain regarding food safety programs and requirements (GLPs, BRC, HACCP, GMP, certifications, etc.)
Report on food safety and/or quality problems to personnel with the authority to initiate corrective actions
Other duties as assigned by the organization
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Creative thinking and a keen eye for detail
Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
Passionate about learning/growing in quality
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree or Diploma related to Food Science, Biosciences or a related program
Previous experience in Laboratory environment or a related role, food processing environment preferred
Strong working knowledge of SOPs, GLPs, HACCP and GMPs applicable to quality, compliance, and production
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Strong comprehension of English language speak, read, and write
Organized and detailed orientated
Flexible and willing to work extra hours and weekends if required
