Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

This is a support position within the pharmacy department. The incumbent will provide assistance to the Centre's pharmacists in the technical and clerical functions of the pharmacy. Activities will be performed under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Experience

  • Experience working with pharmacy computer programs.
  • One-year experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Complete Grade 12 education, Manitoba standards required.
  • Graduate of a recognized pharmacy assistant program or equivalent required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Pharmacy Assistant Certificate from a recognized Program preferred.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Knowledge and training of Automated Dispensing Cabinet Distribution processes preferred.
  • Knowledge of information systems technology and software preferred.
  • Knowledge of current pharmacy computer systems and software preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology essential.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including fluency in the English language.
  • Demonstrated competency in pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with other individuals.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all hospital/patient/resident related matters is maintained.

Physical Requirements

  • High degree of fine motor hand dexterity.
  • Standing, lifting and repetitive motion.
  • Delivery of medication throughout the center required.
