Position Summary:

Put your classroom learning into practice! As a Cultivation Intern, you will actively learn and participate in the many aspects of the life cycle of plants for a cannabis company. You'll keep an eye on the health of the plants, making sure they get water, food, and are free from pests. You'll learn about pruning the plants to help them grow better and increase their yield. When it's time, you'll harvest the cannabis, ensuring its top quality, and then process it by drying, curing, and storing it correctly. You'll need to follow all the laws related to cannabis growing, keep detailed records of all your cultivation activities and inventory, regularly inspect the plants, and keep the growing area clean.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for taking care of plants which includes:
    • Hand watering, spacing, cloning, pruning, transplanting, leafing, tying, harvesting
    • Inspect plants and bud product for deficiencies and report abnormalities to supervisor immediately
  • Assisting with irrigation systems and preparing fertilizer tanks
  • Perform tissue culture and micropropagation methodologies
    • Maintain crop and breeding records
  • Work cohesively with coworkers
    • Keep a tidy and organized working area and a team player
    • Responsible of communicating with the team leads
  • Apply pesticide spray to crop in accordance with licensing regulations
    • Inspect product for deficiencies and report abnormalities to supervisor immediately
    • Follow product labels, determine label rates
    • Clean and disinfect equipment
  • Follow strict internal protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as following current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA, 2000)
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols while consistently wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Follow the Cannabis Act, Cannabis Regulations, and any new revisions.
  • Communicate with supervisors and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • Horticulture, Agronomy, Botany or related Certificate or Diploma, is preferred.
  • Basic scientific understanding of horticulture, botany or agriculture is preferred.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds, as required. Sit, stand or walk for entire shift.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and withstand exposure to outdoor elements and hot indoor environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • A valid pesticide license is an asset
